Day 1 – Sunday, Oct. 24
After a sleepless night, 12 hour flights, 5 hours waiting in airports, we’ve arrived in Mumbai. The hotel sent a driver to pick us up, and we’ve reached the hotel at about 11pm. Upon arrival we see the lobby is in renovations, the room is so-so and everything smells of India :). We do not know when we’ll be able to work, and there’s a lot to do. Ronen is talking to Doron and getting directions for the next few days – where we need to go, who we need to talk to and what we need to do.
Day 2 – Monday, Oct. 25
Night was difficult. The AC was very loud and very strong. We got up early (7am), washed up and went for breakfast. I did not eat, but Ronen had some food which was heavy. I think I’m too nervous to eat at the moment.
We went to the hospital for some arrangements (which took most of the day). There seems to be a lot of red tape in India…
When we got back to the hotel we started our work day (it was almost 5pm here) which lasted past midnight. Another day has past. And I’m getting nervous. Suddenly I realize how close this is. How in any minute we can receive a call saying “go to the hospital, the birth is starting”!. Suddenly I have so many doubts. Can I do this? Can this be done HERE? It’s scary.
Day 3 -Tuesday, Oct. 26
Finally a day with no arrangements – just work.
We started the day with breakfast and then went back up to the room to work. It is not easy working from the hotel room. we do not have comfortable chairs, and there’s only one table which we share (or sometimes one of us sits and works from the bed).
As expected from India, we keep having issues with our internet connection. We’ve been chasing Mr. Iftekhar – the hotel manager for some help since we got here. Today we finally got a chance to talk to him. We complained about the AC and about the internet, and he promised to help. We’re still waiting… :)
When we finished work, we went for dinner, and decided to walk around afterwards. Dinners are really nice here – good Indian food (buffet). For now this is the only meal I eat every day… Still a bit sick.
So after dinner we went out to see the pool which looks pretty nice. We wanted to check out the neighboring Ramada hotel (5 star) but the path was closed due to the renovations… Then we went out and started wandering the streets, but pretty soon we discovered we’re too tired and went back to the hotel to watch Smallville and Modern Family. And sleep of course :)
Maybe we’re starting to get used to it…
